Missions

At First UMC Conway, outreach is central to who we are as followers of Jesus Christ. As United Methodists, our mission is to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world—and we live that mission through service.

We are committed to caring for our community by partnering with local organizations, providing food for those facing food insecurity, and offering emergency assistance to neighbors in need. We believe faith is lived out not only in worship, but through compassionate action.

As faithful stewards, we also support local and regional ministries and mission partners, extending our reach beyond our walls. Through these efforts, we share Christ’s love, build relationships, and invite others into a life of discipleship.

Guided by the Wesleyan call to do no harm, do good, and grow in grace, we serve not to earn God’s love, but because we have already received it. In all we do, we seek to make disciples of Jesus Christ as we participate in God’s transforming work in the world.

Help4Kids

Help4Kids of Horry County works to fight childhood hunger by providing weekend food backpacks to food-insecure children in local schools. These backpacks ensure that children have nutritious meals when school meals are not available. Through this partnership, we help meet immediate needs while offering hope and support to families in our community.

Items needed include: individual pastas (e.g., Chef Boyardee), ramen noodles, crackers, snack packs, granola or cereal bars, soups, and similar shelf-stable foods that are easy for children to prepare or eat. Items may be left in the Missions Corner in the Commons.

Help4Kids Summer Feeding Project provides food for children in Horry County during the summer months when school meals are not available.

Each week from mid-June through mid-August, Help4Kids coordinates food distribution for children across Horry County. We are grateful to partner in this vital ministry by providing items such as hot dogs, fresh fruit, and other needed supplies each week.

Visit the “Help4Kids Summer Feeding Project” on our Events page to see the current items needed throughout the summer, or you may give directly using the tab below.

Thank you for helping us feed the children of Horry County each summer and for being part of this important outreach.
