Rooted in tradition, First United Methodist Church is a welcoming community of faith, serving others and caring for the spiritual and practical needs of all.
Who We Are
Welcome to First United Methodist Church, a vibrant community of faith where we are passionate about experiencing God’s grace and sharing God’s love with the world. Rooted in the rich Wesleyan tradition and grounded in the faithfulness of those who came before us, we draw from enduring practices of worship while responding to the hopes and needs of people today. We believe God calls us to be a light in our community and beyond.
At the heart of our life together is a desire to grow in faith and live as disciples of Jesus Christ. Through worship, prayer, study, and service, we seek to be transformed by God’s grace and to better understand our purpose in the world. We are a hopeful, imperfect community, striving to live out the promises of our Baptism—to love and serve others, seek justice, and honor the dignity and worth of every person.
We invite you to join us on this journey of faith as we love God, serve our neighbors, and share the good news of Christ.
We Are United Methodist
We are followers of Jesus Christ who believe in the triune God—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—and we seek to love God and love our neighbors, honoring the dignity and sacred worth of every person. As part of The United Methodist Church, we are connected to a global community of congregations serving Christ together around the world. Rooted in the Wesleyan tradition, we emphasize God’s grace—grace that invites us into faith, offers forgiveness, and leads us toward a transformed life.
Scripture, prayer, worship, and the sacraments of Baptism and Holy Communion are central to our life together. Holy Communion is the highest expression of God’s grace among us, and in the United Methodist Church, our Table is open to all—regardless of age, gender, or orientation—who seek to live in peace with God and one another. We believe in repentance, the forgiveness of sin, and the promise of eternal life. In our shared ministry, both lay and ordained people lead and serve, with women and men called to ordained leadership as deacons, elders, and bishops.
We affirm the importance of faithful, loving relationships, recognize God’s grace in times of brokenness, and trust individuals to make prayerful and informed decisions guided by conscience and faith. We celebrate our unity in Christ while honoring diversity of thought and experience, believing that love comes before uniformity. Above all, we welcome all people to find a spiritual home in The United Methodist Church.
